' 'about your character Name of Student: Simon Hermes Owen School Year: 6th Blood Type: Pure Birth Place: Skye, Scotland Birthday: January 1st, Sunday, 1981 Preferred House: Ravenclaw, Gryffinor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff
' 'character appearance
Appearance in detail:
Simon is a very good-looking young wizard, but unlike most who attend Hogwarts, he is not pure British, or even pure Caucasian. Simon's father is a native-born Anglo-Saxon Scot, but his mother was born in India and immigrated to the United Kingdom at the age of five with her parents, as her father was a wealthy Indian ambassador. They stayed until Lona, who called herself Ellen, was fourteen. Although their daughter continued to go to Hogwarts, the family moved back to India, where Ellen returned every summer.
And so their son sports dark, chocolate-colored eyes and skin that is a light brown tone. His hair is also from his mother's side, and he has been toying around with the idea of growing his black shock out a little longer...or a lot. He's quite tall, standing at a healthy six feet, but he doesn't weigh that much in contrast, to his height, as he weighs about 130 pounds. He was not build as a weight-lifter, but more like a swimmer, slender, but still very physically strong. He has pointy "wolf teeth", a trait he despises, but at least the ivory in his mouth is stark white, all the more to contrast against his dark skin. One major scars mars his appearance: a thin white sliver where he was slashed by an irritable hippogriff as a child.

' 'characters personality Personality:
First all of, Simon is very intelligent and not just in book learned, but in almost ridiculously smart. Even when he had been home schooled as a young child, he had found schoolwork interesting and even entertaining. He has always had a thirst for knowledge and he has always enjoyed reading, writing and solving complex problems. However, there is an exception to this rule: his mind "isn't wired" for anything mathematical. He can do some math problems and he can eventually figure out patterns and other mathematical devices, but he completely loathes such activities. But other than that, he's intelligent both in his daily life and academically. Oh, and has it been mentioned that he is witty and a bit of a smart mouth. Overall, Simon has always been viewed as unusually smart and has been praised for his brainpower.
As stated above, Simon is smart and he knows it, that is to say that he is "overly proud" of his cleverness. Yes, one could classify him as a bit of a snob as he does turn his nose up at the "less gifted". What is more, he is short-tempered and gets frustrated with the uneducated, the uninformed and yes, the downright stupid. Oddly enough, he has this strange habit of seeking out those who are clearly not very smart or beginners in one of his fields and he will either bash their work or try to help them--"educate" them, as he says. However, it is to be suspected that Simon is using his "educating" of people as a vehicle to exhibit his own intelligence. Indeed, he is not a spiteful person, does he does like to flaunt his talents rather publicly and he is not terribly modest about his achievements, either. His high IQ comes at a price: pride and one day it will come back to punish him.
Simon is not a reckless person; he can be rebellious and brave when he's in the mood, but he will "never do anything stupid", as he himself will tell anyone who will listen. Indeed, he is the exact opposite of reckless in his tendency to follow rules religiously (except in "just case", such as the Umbridge catastrophe) and is cautious to the extreme. He doesn't mind getting his hands dirty, but he cannot stand anything related to medical treatments---blood, minor to moderate injuries clean bandages don't bother him that much, but the more gruesome injures and aliments are not a comfort to him. Muggle syringes especially bother him and he once fainted in front of a muggle nurse who was holding one. He's not afraid of every little thing that jumps out at him, but when it comes to pain, broken bones, banshees and death, prepare to meet a very nervous Simon. He's not a coward in any sense, but neither is he the bravest wizard in the United Kingdom. he's generally pretty respectful towards authority figures (especially teachers whom he respects) and he's concerned about his grades. In fact, Simon has only once been in detention and that was with Umbridge.
Ladies, beware of the appearance of the hopeless romantic. That's right, Simon is not your average Romeo, indeed, when he meets a girl he likes, his face will be embarrassingly red, his knees annoyingly weak and his tenor voice uncharacteristically high. This is one of the only times in which the normally quick-witty and smart-mouth Simon will become temporarily tongue-tied, to the great amusement of his friends. Simon, although never intentionally rude when he wants to be polite (wow, that was paradoxical), as a tendency "not to think" when under pressure and therefore, no one can be sure as to what is going to come out of his mouth in the situation described above. There's no doubt that his good looks will attract the female species, but the question still remains as to whether his mouth (and this is not referring to kissing) will be able to keep up with it. All of his Ravenclaw wit will most probably disappear when he lays eyes on the girl who will steal his heart and will leave him with nothing but his flaws.

Family History:
Seventeen years ago, Simon was born the son of Damian and Ellen Owen. Much of his family's lore was not centered around his birth, but around his parents' first meeting. Unfortunately, for the eager ears of the more romantic listeners, for it was not love at first sight for Ellen and Damian. Indeed, they loathed each other more completely than any other couple they had ever met. Like most of the magical community, they met at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and to their immediate anger, they were both placed in the same horse: Ravenclaw. Of course they did not discover how deeply they detested each other, until their first class together, charms, in which Damian conquered Ellen in their attempts at the "Windgarium levisosa" charm and then claimed that, like most wizards, he was smarter than witches. Ellen, fueled by anger at his sexist remark that was unmistakably aimed at her, hit him over the head with her wand, some some obscure, anger-filled spell that caused him to be sent to the Hospital Wing with nasty, green boils all over his face. As soon as he was feeling better, Damian took his revenge by liquidating dung bombs and pouring them into her soup at dinner. Ellen hit him back by pushing him off one of the staircases and out onto the one below, sending him to the Hospital Wing again. And so the petty game continued until third year, when it got even worse; they both joined their house Quidditch team with Ellen as seeker and Damian as chaser. One must feel sorry for their captain at this point, as by now they had a reputation of inflicting as much harm on the other as was physically possible. Three and a half years passed, and the two still continued with their angry battles of wits until one day something happened that would shock many Hogwarts students. Damian had gotten himself landed in detention for stealing food from the kitchens, after hours, no less, and, as punishment, he had been sent to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where the Hogwarts herd of hippogriffs were being kept to retrieve one that had actually wandered into the forest itself. Having been gone all night, Ravenclaw house, Ellen especially, had been worried, but no one was prepared for what happened next. Damian burst into the hall during breakfast and began running toward Ellen and she rose from her seat, ran into his arms and kissed him in front of the entire school. Unfortunately, their "battles of wits" did not cease after they started going out together, but they no longer showed a desire to inflict serious physical pain on each other. It was not a surprise to anyone when two years later, Damian and Ellen announced their engagement. One year after they were married, their first child, Simon was born.
Simon was not born in St. Mungo's. but in the home of an independent healer not far away from the rural farm, which Damian and Ellen owned. When he returned home with his parents, Simon was an inquisitive youngster and his curiosity was frequently getting him into trouble. The family lived on the farm they owned and they were more or less devoted to Damian's trade of choice: breeding and raising hippogriffs for magical uses. It wasn't long before Simon was taken flying by his father or mother and he learned how to fly and care for the beasts himself as soon as he was old and strong enough. His first act of magic was to summon his mother's wand in his hand from the table upon which it had been resting and bring it down hard upon his father's head, causing his mother to rush her husband to St. Mungo's to treat the nasty, green boils all over his face. Although his parents were feeling a mixture of anger and pride towards their son, they also thought the incident to be quite amusing.
When Simon was three years old, his sister Athena was born and her appearance on the scene greatly disappointed her brother, who had expected to be playing with his sister the moment she was born. Instead, all the baby did was sleep, eat and wail in the middle of the night, which irritated Simon to no end. Finally, when he was seven, she decided to serious start playing with him by dumping a bucket of cold, icy water over his head. This did nothing to strengthen the siblings' bond, on the contrary, they fought spitefully until Athena turned thirteen. It was then that they put an end to their petty fights and argued about Simon's sudden inclination to be the "protective big brother". Predictable, Simon instantly despised any boy who tried hitting on his sister, even if his intentions were honest.
Simon received his letter to Hogwarts on time and he had little financial trouble when it came to purchasing his school supplies, due to his father's booming trade. He was sorted almost immediately into Ravenclaw and he was more than satisfied with how he had been sorted. he did not delight in schoolwork, but he tolerated it and did well in most, if not all, of his classes. Since he had practically grown up on the back of a hippogriff, learning to ride a broom was like a newly-discovered second nature to him and he followed the proceedings of the house Quidditch teams with practiced ease, having watched the sport all of his life. He did well in all of his class exams and by the end of the term, Ravenclaw placed second in the inter-house championship.
By his second year, Simon had been recognized as a formidable Quidditch player and he was quickly accepted to the Ravenclaw Quidditch team as a chaser. During the chamber of secrets episode, he remained fairly calm, seeing as he was pureblood, in Ravenclaw house and mostly out of the reach of the ominous shadow that hovered over the Slytherin purebloods and that fabled Harry Potter. Simon actually had a rather amusing episode in his Defense Against the Dark Arts class, when the teacher, Professor Lockhart, introduced wild Doxies to the class. Instead of fighting the pests, Simon and two of his friends took to beating the teacher over the head with Travels With Trolls until he let all of the students out of the room. Nothing of much interest happened in his third year, when Sirius Black escaped, but it was during his fourth year that things got really interesting. Of course he was outraged that only seventeen-year-olds and older could compete in the tournament and throughout it, he supported Cedric Diggory, having known him and Cho Chang previously. When potter returned from the maze, he was greatly shaken and was grateful that he remained Cedric's loyal supporter and not a fan of that nutter, Potter. But the death of his friend did not only sadden and shake him, but Cho, once his good friend, stopped talking to him, save for a curt "good morning" or "Roger says practice is canceled". And then there was the arrival of that toad, Umbridge and the emergence of Dumbledore's Army, which Simon refused to attend, despite the encouragement of Cho. His reason being, "that Potter freak". It is needless to say that Cho defended Potter and fought with Simon and she didn't speak to him again. Even when it was revealed to the world that Lord Voldemort, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, as Simon called him, Simon did not speak to Cho, nor did he believe that the Dark Lord had returned.
